Amanda Garrison   Amy Thomen

Amanda Garrison is a Certified Labor & Post Partum Doula. She attended International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) and has been serving the birthing community since 2004. Amanda also teaches classes at Infinity Birthing Center and offers private classes as well. She considers attending births a privilege and enjoys the opportunity to serve women in the beautiful transition into motherhood as she is passionate about the sacred, intimate journey that women take through pregnancy and childbirth.

Amanda's experience began with her own son's birth. She also had a miscarriage that was removed surgically. These events changed her life. A doula attended her hospital birth and to this day, she is grateful. She knew when her son was a newborn that she would become a doula. It was a strong "calling" she felt deep in her heart. The ability to help women in such a powerful way astounded her. Amanda currently resides in Cookeville with her family.

Amy Thomen became a Certified Labor Doula through Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA) in September 2009. She is amazed at what women are capable of and is passionate about preconception, pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. She considers it an honor to assist women in their birth experience, supporting them in creating the type of birth they envision. Amy is sensitive and compassionate toward the unique needs of expectant families and desires for all women to have positive, empowering birth experiences. She is also a breast feeding advocate and can offer assistance to her clients before, during and after birth.

Amy and her husband also are professional photographers. Their portfolio spans the entire life cycle. However, Amy most enjoys capturing the innocence of a child in the beauty of it's own environment.

She and her family currently reside in Cookeville.

Our Relationship with Your Family

A doula can never replace the love and care that the birth partner provides during the birth. The doula’s knowledge and experience can help the partner to participate in the birth at their own comfort level. Whether the partner chooses only to witness the birth or play a more active role, the doula can often bring the couple or family closer together. She can relieve the partner from the pressure of knowing what to say, do and suggest for the mother. Her presence allows the partner to maintain their stamina and energy level by taking breaks without the worry of leaving the mother alone. Doulas never replace birth partner's, but are extra hands at your experience.
