Having a doula is the most important decision I made in the process of having my first child. I can not imagine having given birth without a doula. I was given peace of mind, motivation, and empowerment from someone who had not only given birth but had been through countless births with other women. I chose to give birth naturally but I would recommend a doula no matter how a person decides to give birth. I will definitely use a doula for the birth of my next child---I would be crazy not to! My husband says it's worth every penny and he is soooo right! |

| Having a doula for the birth of my second child Maxx was absolutely a blessing. Amy helped in many different ways such as massages, positioning, comfort measures, relaxation and breathing. She also helped me decide which position would help labor along or make labor more comfortable. Along the way Amy helped make suggestions and reminders about simple things that are often forgotten, like going to the bathroom, or drinking fluids. Amy could not have done a better job coaching me through my birthing experience. She made each and every transition through labor so much more peaceful for me and my husband. Her emotional support and physical comfort exceeded all my expectations. Without a doubt in my mind I know having Amy there to help me through this process made it a more positive outcome for me and my husband. | From the very first moment I met Amanda, I knew she was a kindred spirit. I could tell right away that she knew what she was talking about and had a passion to help families before, during and after delivery. It was so comforting for both Adam and me to have her with us. She did her very best to help us get through the birthing process. It's also a plus to have her in the room to capture those precious first minutes of life on video. Henry and I had the pleasure of being one of Amy's first births. I started meeting with Amy during my second trimester. She was a wealth of information! As a first-time mommy, I didn't really know what to expect, what questions to ask or how to prepare for a natural birth. Amy gave me so much valuable information, helped me formulate a birth plan and tweak my diet and exercise routine to give Henry the healthiest start in life. Amy was amazingly supportive during the actual birth. Her calming presence and therapeutic touch helped me manage pain and succeed in a drug-free birth. She also served as an advocate to insure that my birth plan was respected and my needs were met. She was great with my family, too. She collaborated with my sister beautifully in the delivery room. The assistance I received from Amy didn't end with the birth. She has kept in touch and provided support, particularly during those first couple months when I was experiencing so much change. Amanda and I have been friends for over twelve years. We were pregnant together with our first children. She lived in Tennessee and I lived in Florida. Soon after our daughter, Attyson was born, we moved back to Tennessee. Amanda had found her passion and became a Doula by the time we were pregnant with our second child and we were excited to have her with us throughout the birthing journey. We learned with our first child that it takes more than a momma to have a "natural" childbirth! Amanda’s being there brought with it knowledge of the birthing progression, a gentle touch, a calming demeanor, and yet a lot of muscle, endurance and patience!! My husband was thankful for her peaceful presence and the assistance with techniques to suppress the intensity of my contractions. Aiden's birth was incredible! Amanda helped and supported us through every transition successfully. |
